Printing in Tax
In Tax, you can print the following from the Application menu:
Print Options
Tax default print options, such as formatting, default printer, print order and sequence, watermarks, and number of copies, can be set for the firm, a user, and a specific return. Configure the default settings for tax return print processing using print options and print sets.
- Firm. Firm print options, including formatting, sequence, collation, and print suppression, are set for the return configuration set A set of preferences that allows the firm to configure tax return detail for signature block, print, electronic filing, tax products, and other products that interface with the Tax system.. See Configuring Return Configuration Set Print Options for more information. Return print sets customize the conditions in which documents print for each tax product, tax authority, and copy type. Return print sets can also determine the order in which documents print and suppress the printing of documents. See Configuring Return Print Sets for more information.
- User. User print options are set in Tax using the User Options button on the Application menu. See Setting Your Tax Print User Options for more information.
- Worksheet. Options, such as print formatting, order, and sequence, for a specific tax return are set in the Processing Options worksheet. (Worksheet print options are not in common with user print options.) Click Worksheet in the Instructions group on the Help tab from the applicable open worksheet for more information.
- Additional correspondence options can be set in the return. See Setting Correspondence Options in Correspondence Manager Help.
- Print window. Print options for the open return can be set on the Print and Customize Open Return windows. See Customizing Print Options for the Open Return for more information.
Overriding Print Defaults
You can override settings as shown below. For example, you can override a return configuration set print option in a tax return worksheet. This does not change the setting in the return configuration set. The change only affects the tax return.

Print Sets
Print sets customize the conditions that documents print for each tax product, tax authority, and copy type. Print sets can also determine the order in which documents print and suppress the printing of documents. The documents include forms, statements, reports, correspondence, invoices, separator sheets, federal worksheets, federal schedules, state worksheets, and state schedules. A custom print set can be configured for the firm or for staff. See Using Print Sets for more information.
